The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announces the opening of applications for the "My Project... My Beginning" program, which supports graduation projects for the 2026/2027 academic year.
As part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s strategy to foster innovation and entrepreneurship—and to strengthen the role of universities in providing technological solutions that support sustainable development—the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) has announced the opening of applications for the latest cycle of the "My Project... My Beginning" program. This initiative, designed to support the graduation projects of final-year students at Egyptian universities for the 2026/2027 academic year, stands as one of the largest national programs dedicated to promoting student innovation and transforming exceptional ideas into viable projects and startup companies.
The program aims to discover and nurture innovative projects, align university educational outcomes with the needs of industry and the labor market, support students in developing technological solutions that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, and foster a knowledge-based economy.
The program includes two main tracks :
Individual projects for final-year students.
Consortium projects (collaborative projects), which enable universities and research institutions to carry out a collection of integrated graduation projects within shared research or applied tracks, thereby fostering cooperation between academic and research institutions.
The program targets a number of areas of national priority, including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, deep tech, quantum computing, space sciences, autonomous vehicles, medical devices, agricultural and medical biotechnology, nanotechnology, green technology, energy efficiency, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and the deepening of local manufacturing—in addition to projects that offer innovative solutions to support Egyptian industry.
Professor Dr. Mamdouh Moawad, Acting President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), affirmed that the "My Project... My Beginning" (Mashrou’i... Bidayati) program has become one of the most significant national initiatives adopted by the Academy to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among university students. In its previous editions, the program has contributed to transforming hundreds of outstanding ideas into prototypes and promising projects, while also cultivating a generation of young people capable of competing and devising tangible solutions to developmental challenges.
He added that the Academy is committed to continuously developing the program in alignment with the nation’s priorities and the needs of the industry. He emphasized that investing in the ideas of young people is an investment in the future of the national economy, and that the Academy remains dedicated to providing technical and financial support to outstanding projects, helping to transform them into startups and products with economic value.
He pointed out that, over the past few years, the program has demonstrated that graduation projects are more than just an academic requirement; they can serve as a launching pad for technology startups and innovative, homegrown products that contribute to supporting the Egyptian economy and achieving the goals of Egypt Vision 2030.
For his part, Professor Dr. Amr Farouk, Assistant President for Technological Development at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), emphasized that the program serves as a key national mechanism for bridging scientific research with industry and entrepreneurship. It achieves this by supporting student projects that demonstrate technological viability and transforming them into practical applications that enhance the competitiveness of the national economy
Engineer Mahmoud Tantawi, supervisor of the "consolidated projects" (consortia) track, explained that this initiative encourages universities and research institutions to form scientific and technological alliances. These alliances integrate multiple graduation projects under a unified vision, thereby maximizing the practical impact of the projects and fostering collaboration between universities, state institutions, and the industrial sector.
Mr. Hisham Fathi, supervisor of the individual projects track, noted that the program offers final-year students a genuine opportunity to transform their creative ideas into developable prototypes, while providing the necessary support for promising projects that address the needs of society and the labor market.
The program invites final-year students from public and private universities and institutes in Egypt to submit their projects, provided that these projects are linked to their graduation requirements, are feasible, and have been approved by an academic supervisor.
